Pelita Hati Montessori School

Children playing in the sand pit at Pelita Hati Montessori school in Semarang

Formerly known as TK Pelita Hati, PHMS was established in 1994. We started out with offering Playgroup and Preschool programs. Due to positive feedbacks from parents, we added Primary level (P1 to P6) in 2012.

Our aim is to address the need for a school in Semarang that gives children the opportunity to explore their curiosity, and helps them acquire not only academic skills, but also social, practical and emotional skills. Our teachers recognise that children have different needs and characteristics.

Benefits of Montessori Approach

We implement a unique educational approach based on Montessori method, where children are encouraged to become active learners and follow their individual interests. Our learning environment enables children to develop self-discipline and gain understanding through their own experiences. Furthermore, this approach helps children become more creative, independent, focused and coordinated.

In PHMS, individualised learning plans allow children to learn at their own pace. We encourage fast learners to proceed with more challenging materials. On the other hand, teachers provide special help to accommodate slow learners based on their needs. We also apply a bilingual learning system (English and Bahasa Indonesia) as we recognise the importance of learning English from a very young age.

As a Montessori school in Semarang, we pride ourselves on always striving to understand children and fulfil their learning needs, with the ultimate goal to help them achieve their maximum potential.
